welcome to

Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association

The season is now well under way and I hope everyone is enjoying their golf. Most importantly, isn’t it just great to be back just socialising and catching up with friends after the challenges of the last couple of years?
Team matches are well underway and our two Lindas-Bemrose and Welch are busy processing all your results .
It was very enjoyable watching some excellent golf at the Yorkshire Championship back in May. We had an excellent and highly competitive field. It was great to see Megan Garland from Selby topping the qualifiers on the first day after taking some time out for the birth of her son last year.
Alwoodley was a magnificent venue and the lady volunteers did the club proud, thank you all. The final on Sunday afternoon was a great occasion played between previous Champion Emma Brown who had won the Vets Championship the previous week and 19 year old Mia Eales Smith from Lindrick.

Emma Brown played impressively to win the final. Congratulations to her.
Later this month we will be taking an impressive team to Heswall for Northern County Match week. Representing the county of Yorkshire is a huge honour and it was a particularly difficult job for the selection committee to select this years team. We wish them well and any spectators would be most welcome and very much appreciated.
You can rest assured you will see some fantastic woman’s golf if you come.

I am sure you can appreciate their is lots that goes on within the YLCGA to promote golf across the county for both ladies and junior golfers. We are urgently in need of additional help as we continue to have no ladies at all to represent the East Area and we are a representative short in the South. In addition we will be looking for a Treasurer and County Secretary in November of 2023 and additional ladies to represent Leeds Area/North Area and West Area at this years AGM in November.
Please, if you have some time and interest in getting involved in golf in the county please get in touch. We would love to hear from you. Contact details for myself or our Secretary Lesly can be found in the handbooks at your clubs.

I look forward to meeting lots of our Yorkshire ladies at Bingley St Ives for the Challenge Bowl in July and some of our younger players at the Junior championship at Cleckheaton also in July. Let’s hope the sun shines.
