Junior Championship 2021

The Yorkshire Junior Girls Championship is open to all members of the YLCGA who have not reached their 18th birthday by 1st January of the year of the Championship and with a Handicaps Index of 18 or under who qualify in accordance with England Golf Regulations and who were affiliated to YLCGA in the England Golf subscription year. It is a 36 hole Strokeplay competition best gross score to determine the Champion. There will be a Trophy for the best Net score and entry into England Golf Champion of Champions competition.

The Race to Woodsome Hall 2021 (Order of Merit)

This Stableford competition takes place over the year at the following venues. There are two divisions, Division 1 up to a Handicap Index of 18 and Division 2 for those with a Handicap Index between 19 to 36 where a player will accrue points for the division in which she began the season regardless of handicap reduction. There is also a 9 hole competition which can be played from the red tees for those with a Handicap Index between 37 to 54 and a shortened course (blue tees) for those without a Handicap Index and those with a Handicap Index of 46+. Please note you cannot choose the shortened course once you have moved to the red tees.

Layla Hitchiner from Waterfront Golf club

A fantastic win for newcomer Layla on her debut for the Yorkshire Race to Woodsome scoring a magnificent 39 points 4 points clear of the next best placed. Congratulations
Runner-Up was Katie Stephens(Middlesbrough) on 35pts
3rd place Grace lambert(Hessle) also 35pts
4th Hope Williams(Thirsk & Northallerton) 34pts

Sophia Rudd from Middlesbrough GC. As a relative newcomer to the programme and again on her debut in the Race to Woodsome an excellent result with 38 pts 5 points clear of another newcomer. Congratulations it bodes well for the season ahead

Cottingham Parks was a test for some with water features to negotiate but Division players had the best of the weather and all players completed their rounds in sunshine. Congratulations to Layla who has had two straight wins and is clearly in good form going into the junior championships in two weeks time

Starting in in a warm sunshine looked promising for division 2 until a thunderstorm put paid to the competition and the results were taken for over just 12 holes. Congratulations to Georgina Dawson for her first win

Division 2 winner Saskia Stuart (Abbeydale)

Congratulations to Abbeydale girl Saskia Stuart who was place first on her home course in her Yorkshire debue with an excellent 42pts
Abbeydale featured in second place with an excellent result also from the other new girl Caitlin and further 3rd place to another new girl Esme from Hallamshire. Great start everyone
