2025 Inter Club Finals

A League Finals - Shipley GC Wednesday 3rd September

Despite stormy forecasts for the area, the A League semi finals and finals were completed without delay at Shipley Golf Club.

Wath defeated Ilkley 2A in the first semi final and Whitby overcame the Hallamshire challenge in the second semi final. Wath proved too strong for the Whitby side in the afternoon final, winning the first three matches and emerged as Champions as well as being Leading Qualifiers. A fantastic effort from the Wath squad.

B League Finals - Lees Hall Golf Club Friday 5th September

The hills of Sheffield beckoned for the B League Finals at Lees Hall Golf Club. Leading Qualifiers Whitby took on Romanby and Wetherby played Ganton in the semi finals. Both matches were decided by the first 3 pairs so an early lunch and a much-needed rest were in order. Both teams made some substitutions for the afternoon final between Whitby and Ganton which turned out to be a very close affair. Finally, with the second match being extended to the 19th hole and matches 4 and 5 still live, Ganton emerged as Champions with match 2 being won in extra time.

Scratch League Finals - Moortown Golf Club Tuesday 9th September

Moortown Golf Club hosted the 2025 Inter Club Scratch Finals on a beautiful sunny day. The course had benefited from the recent rain showers and despite significant growth, preferred lies remained in force for the day. Leading Qualifiers Ganton played Pannal and Bingley St Ives did battle against Fulford. After some excellent golf, Ganton and Fulford emerged as finalists. YLCGA Captain Lesly Ford set off the players in the final and enjoyed watching some tough battles. Congratulations to Ganton who prevailed, having secured the necessary 3 matches, to win the Champions title for the 5th year running.

White Rose League Finals - Leeds Golf Club Thursday 11th September

After all the wonderful weather we have enjoyed for the finals so far this year, it was inevitable that our luck would end. Although the semi finals all set off in cool but sunny weather, sadly by the end of the morning storms were headed our way. Thankfully, the matches had just concluded before the klaxon had to be employed. Leading qualifiers Otley had lost their match against Burstwick and 2024 runnners up Rudding Park had beaten The Oaks. After a slight delay for weather, the finalists set off and then had to endure several torrential downpours making playing conditions unpleasant, to say the least. At their third attempt in three years, congratulations to Rudding Park who emerged from the gloom as worthy Champions and commiserations to Burstwick who put up a tremendous fight in less than ideal conditions.
